Who can be accredited?
UKASL (UK Accreditation & Certification Services Limited) gives accreditations to Conformity Assessment Bodies (CABs). These bodies comprise of laboratories, certification and inspection bodies, providers of proficiency tests and reference material producers.
A CAB may be accredited by UKASL (UK Accreditation & Certification Services Limited) if and only if it meets the requirements of the corresponding internationally acceptable standards.
Accredited once, Accepted everywhere
The worldwide harmonization of these standards warrants that the accreditations are executed on a worldwide basis according to the corresponding criteria. As a result of these harmonized standards as well as thanks to the international agreements, the assessment activities of bodies accredited in UK & US & also accepted in many European & non-European countries.
This ability to overcome national barriers to trade facilitates cross-border trade & allows the acceptance of conformity assessments results at the international level without requiring any further inspections.
